Study Guides
The Discussion Guide is intended to help parents, youth leaders, small group leaders, and teens work through and get the most out of their study of Letters to My Daughters. Letters to My Daughters is a book written by a dad as he shares his heart and wisdom with his three daughters regarding a life-changing decision: marriage. Through 52 personal letters to Kari, Lisa, and Julie, Paul Friesen pens his insights on the importance of convictions, character, considerations, and chemistry as they relate to relationships.

Designed for those who are living busy lives, this daily study is for couples and small groups. It is an eight-week series that leads you through a brief 10-minute time together as a couple each day and prepares you for a weekly small group study if you wish. Each day is divided into Scripture, Sharing, Support, and Supplication, followed by a weekly message of hope and encouragement.
What would Jesus say about marriage today? These studies are designed to encourage couples and small groups to discuss not only what Jesus would say, but also what He calls us to do, that we might experience more fully His good design for marriage.
This ten-week guide puts forth questions for couples to consider, leading to the small-group discussion each week.
Each of the ten weeks is divided into four sections:
Prepare: Two or three questions to point couples in the direction of the topic of the week
Participate: Some of Jesus’ words on marriage and a few questions to guide group discussions regarding practical applications of Jesus’ teachings
Process: One or two questions to “bring it home” and help couples process the truths of Jesus personally in their marriages
Prayer: A simple prayer to guide couples as they seek divine help to follow Jesus’ words
Enjoy listening to Jesus—He really has a lot to say about marriage! Of course, it was His idea, after all.
Books
“Men, if you want to be a better husband, father, and follower of Christ, but often feel like you miss the mark, this book might be for you. Be assured, you are not alone . . . To add to this sense of failure, the best-known passage on marriage in the Bible, and one our wives have put to memory, instructs us as husbands to “love your wives, as Christ loved the church . . . ” Now that’s a bar we can barely see, let alone reach. What husband can love his wife like Christ? Who do our wives think we are? Jesus?” (From the introduction by Paul Friesen)
Wouldn't it be nice to simply download an “app” and have a more satisfying marriage? While The Marriage App: Unlocking the Irony of Intimacy will take more than a download to give you the intimacy in marriage you have been longing for, it will direct you to the One who is able to unlock the mystery. From their more than 30 years of marriage counseling and a deep reverence for and dependence on God's word, Drs. Paul and Virginia Friesen have given us a very biblical and practical App that can give us that marriage we have always desired. What might happen if we put our spouse's desires ahead of our own? What might happen if we really did trust God's design for marriage?

One of our board members, Doug Macrae, is an avid geocacher, and he encouraged Paul to write an article on marriage for FTF, a popular geocaching magazine. Read the article here. The article was then featured in a geocaching podcast.
