Vol 10, Issue 2
Dear Barbara,

The H.I.M. marriage conference this fall with guest speakers Gordon and Gail MacDonald was received with great enthusiasm and gratitude by all attendees. This coming March, we're expecting a sold-out marriage retreat in Newport, RI, so please don't delay in reserving your spot--or passing along the information to friends. And, those who register by January 6 can still qualify for the early bird rates. How about offering to help send your church's pastor and spouse?
Newport Marriage Retreat: March 6-8, 2015

David and Cherylyn Hegg
Earlybird rate available through January 6

We're delighted to have David Hegg as our guest speaker for this retreat! He is the senior pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita, CA, and will be teaching the main sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Paul and Virginia Friesen will speak at the opening session on Friday night.

David and his wife, Cherylyn, have a passion for people, and David is gifted in providing deep insight and wisdom into the Scriptures. Come join us for a weekend of excellent teaching, wonderful worship, helpful workshops, great food, and plenty of time to simply be together and celebrate each other. Registration is open!

Engagement Matters

Know someone who is contemplating marriage?
Paul and Virginia Friesen
Engagement Matters is an invaluable weekend for any couple that is even talking about the "M" word -- no need to be officially engaged! In fact, we recommend that you pass along a link to the Engagement Matters webpage to any couple you know who has progressed to that stage. Be sure to suggest they click on the "Endorsement" tab on that page to see what past attendees have written about their experience. We regularly hear back from them about how grateful they are to have been there. And, they say it's a fun weekend, as well as being filled with tools for preparing for marriage.

Paul and Virginia Friesen lead the weekend (held in a private home in Andover, MA), but other resource couples are there to enrich the teaching as well.

Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia
As this issue is going to press, Paul and Virginia are in Hawaii, preparing to speak at a marriage conference there this coming weekend. They're scheduled to be the guest speakers at a number of marriage conferences across the nation in the coming months, including California, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Rhode Island, Massachusetts--and then abroad, in Uganda!

If you've heard them speak before, you know how God has gifted them to bring His truth to marriages and families.
Extended family celebrate VA's 60th
But speaking also requires wisdom and strength, courage and joy, all sourced from the Giver of all good gifts. Please pray that God would grant them everything they need to continue to encourage marriages in His name and by His power.

Paul continues to write and revise his latest book. Thanks to all of you who have sent him your input on how husbands can better love their wives. If you didn't receive an invitation to an anonymous survey on this topic, please write us and we'll send you a link.

Speaking of loving your wife . . . Virginia celebrated her 60th birthday in November, and Paul filled the month with surprise celebrations for her from coast to coast. Just when she thought the surprises were over, he wowed her with another one. (Husbands and wives, take note! But know your spouse, as Friesens teach, and be sure to love as he/she will feel loved.)

As the new year begins, we want to thank you all again so much for your partnership: your emails of encouragement and appreciation, your prayers, your financial support, your continued attendance at H.I.M. events, and your use of H.I.M. resources. It is our joy to be part of the family of God with you!
Blessings,
Barbara Steele
