Include H.I.M. events on your church calendar for 2014-2015

Perhaps your church is like hundreds of New England churches that have the desire to strengthen marriages and families but simply are not able to support the trained staff needed to accomplish this.  Below are listed the events for 2014-2015 that are sponsored by H.I.M. and intended to be a support to your church's efforts.  H.I.M. will have event posters  available later this summer, but for now, please save and post the dates on your church calendar.

Ashoke Bachew to be guest speaker
We are delighted to announce that Pastor Ashoke Bachew, of Trinidad and Tobago Urban Ministries, will be our speaker at the H.I.M./Berea Family Camps for 2014.

Pastor Ashoke and his wife, Stephanie, are no strangers to us.  A number of local teens and families have served with them on missions trips over the years through both Grace Chapel and H.I.M.  Pastor Ashoke's story ofTransformation from darkness into light, his passion for the Proclamation of the gospel, his insight into theGlobalization of the Good News, and his clear view of theAnticipation of God's best for each of us will guide us as he leads us in our study of God's word each day.

From the Friesen Kitchen
Fruit Smoothie

Almost any leftover (or too-ripe) fruit can be added or substituted to this recipe to make a cool and healthy (and delicious!) summer treat.  Experiment (yum!), and even try adding bits of leftover veggies to give it an extra vitamin punch.

1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
2 cups frozen strawberries, raspberries, or cherries (pitted)
1 cup milk
1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice

Put all the ingredients into a blender, process until smooth, and serve!

[Editor's note: Paul and Virginia often make smoothies for a breakfast on-the-run before they leave for an early morning flight.  If I'm their ride, they make one for me, too!  It's always fabulous.]

Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia

If it's summer, it must be family camp time!  As this issue goes to "press"  (electronically),  Paul and Virginia are at Campus By the Sea directing six weeks of family camp. Less than 24 hours after those camps end, the Friesens and their core program staff will be landing at Logan airport and driving to Berea in New Hampshire to repeat the experience for another 100 families.

As someone who needs to communicate with them on a regular basis, I can attest to the fact that they have very little if any downtime during these summer weeks.  Any "open" time slots are quickly filled with counseling requests, staff-building/bonding activities, and planning for upcoming ministry events.

Therefore: please pray for Paul and Virginia!! They need your prayers now more than ever - and that's saying something.  Please pray for strength, for staff health, for wisdom, for God's provision of all the resources they need in these weeks, and for families to hear and apply the truths being taught.  May God be honored and praised.
Blessings,
Barbara Steele
