Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia
Returning from a joyous Easter service with Virginia's parents and Lisa, ready for brunch!Returning from a joyous Easter service with Virginia's parents and Lisa, ready for brunch!
When we last wrote about the Friesens, they were in Dallas speaking at the Professional Athletes Outreach conference.  Virginia wrote of all they did and saw (and said!) here

From there they were on the west coast speaking at numerous events and traveling up and down the great state of Calfornia to do so - including of course, a visit with Kari and Gabe Garcia, who if you haven't yet heard, are expecting Paul and Virginia's first grandchild in late August.  So exciting!

Paul welcomes the crowd at Worth ItPaul welcomes the crowd at Worth It

Worth It, the annual H.I.M. sexual purity conference, was held this past April 10 in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, to a crowd of 235 enthusiastic teens and parents, all on board to be wowed and wooed by God's perfect design for relationships. Amid raps, interviews, talks, and inspiring stories of God's work, we were thrilled to be part of this "best ever" conference.  People came from all over New England, and Paul and Virginia put together a "knock it out of the park" team of speakers, including Don Davis, retired NFL Patriot, and David Thomas, New Orleans Saints tight end, along with his lovely wife Kassidy, as well as Julie Friesen, Brian and Heather Dietz, Jess and Elizabeth Bousa, and Joe DeZelle.  Read all the details about the day here.  We received wonderful words of gratitude from many attendees afterwards, including these:
  • Thanks for the day of Worth It. My daughter seemed to really enjoy it. I was so pleased with her signing the pledge and wanting me to witness it. I know there are no guarantees especially when these things are done at 13, but in view of all that we are dealing with, it certainly gladdens a mom's heart as we continue to build a foundation on God's truths and not on what is in the world. I am grateful for the big role H.I.M. has played in strengthening that foundation.    -Parent
  • I was challenged to raise the bar. Thanks. I needed the challenge. Please pray for my follow through.    -Parent
  • The most beneficial part of the day was my friends came and enjoyed it.    -16-year-old male
  • God bless you so much. It was so worth it to come here. The commitment was the greatest part of the day because I know for sure what I want in my life.  -18-year-old female
  • Outstanding speakers, word of God evident in all activities, boldness in Christ and of real matters in teen's lives greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much for your commitment to God, your dedication to His word, and your passion for this topic. God bless you all.   -15-year-old female
Now that Worth It is behind us, you'd think Paul and Virginia would have some down time, but they're back on the road!  First stop was Fort Worth, Texas, where they spoke at a Couples' Night and did a marriage and parenting conference, and then to Lake Charles, Lousiana, where they spoke at yet another marriage conference.  They are now gearing up for the annual Thriving Churches Conference at Bayside Covenant Church in Sacramento, followed by another marriage conference out there.  We expect to see them back east soon after that, and will be sending them away to a quiet place to put in some focused work on their next book.
You no doubt know someone whose marriage is shaky or suffering . . . we all do.  Please keep your friends and their families in constant prayer, and while you pray, please also thank God for His call on Paul and Virginia to minister to marriages and families.  Pray that He will strengthen them and continue to give them the opportunity to counsel, speak, and write the words of hope and encouragement that He gives them.

We are so very grateful for these prayers, for your encouragement, and for your loving support in so many ways.
