Legacy of Love:
Build Your Marriage to Last a Lifetime
February 12-14, 2010
Hyatt Regency Hotel, Newport, Rhode Island
"They really love each other--and it shows." What a great legacy and example for our children and our neighbors, and what a joy to experience with each other! But too often the distractions of everyday life keep us from building that experience and that legacy.
Get away together for Valentine's Day--to remember how it first was, to celebrate what it is now, and to prepare for what it can be. Join us for this weekend conference, with guest speakers Bob and Carol Kraning. You will be blessed. Your marriage will be enriched!

PUMPKIN HARVEST LOAF
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1-3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
3/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix!)
3/4 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 to 2 Tbsp cream
Cream margarine; gradually add sugar until mixed well. Blend in eggs; beat well. Combine flour, soda, salt, and spices; add at low speed to creamed mixture alternately with pumpkin. By hand, stir in chocolate chips and half the nuts. Grease and lightly flour a loaf pan and pour mixture into it. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake at 350 for one hour or until done (toothpick comes out clean). Allow to cool 10 minutes, then gently remove from pan. When cool, gently drizzle with spice glaze. Excellent served with hot cider!
Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia
Since directing eight weeks of family camp this summer (six on the west coast, two on the east coast), Paul and Virginia have spoken at marriage and parenting conferences and seminars in seven different states: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Georgia, Connecticut, New York, Oregon, and California. In addition to hosting guests, counseling weekly, meeting with the Patriots couples, and addressing a number of Mom to Mom groups, they have been working hard to put together the upcoming marriage conference with Gary Thomas here in the Boston area. (If you haven't registered, please don't miss it!)
In the photo to the left, Paul and Virginia are shown at the first Iron Sharpens Iron
women's conference, held October 17 in Connecticut with 3300 women registered. They spoke on "Raising a Trailblazer: Rite of Passage Trail Markers for Your Set-Apart Teens" to a packed-out room of moms of teens, and were sought out afterwards by many for questions and further encouragement and hope. Virginia wrote:
Women are so responsive! They laughed, cried, took notes, asked questions, and hung around to talk. They encouraged us. They stopped by the book table and spoke with us further. They bought books. And did I say they talked to us? We had a wonderful day and were so thankful for the opportunity.
And now they're in Hawaii for some R & R . . . that is, "wRiting" and "Restoration." :) Virginia wrote recently:
We're en route to a much needed and very exciting ten-day vacation/writing break in Hawaii. Just writing that makes my heart beat faster. :) We were last in the islands five years ago, and few places we've been have provided better relaxation and disengagement for us than these beautiful islands in the Pacific.
Paul and Virginia are writing a book on marriage that will eventually come to us for our encouragement and hope. Please pray for them while they are away: that they will be restored, and that they will be filled with God's words of hope and teaching as they write. As you pray and as you support God's work, He uses it all for our own growth. How good He is!
Grateful for you -
