Friday, May 22 - Monday, May 25, 2009
Myles Standish State Park
Join other H.I.M. families for a great time of fellowship and camping at beautiful Myles Standish State Park. As usual, the program will be relaxed. Families are on their own for both breakfast and lunch. A common evening meal is served with each family helping in preparation or clean-up once during the weekend. Arrival is Friday afternoon, with a Monday departure.
The cost for the weekend is $50 for the camp site, plus $20.00 per adult and each child ages 12 years old and older, and $10 per child ages 2 - 11. There is no per person charge for children under 2 years old. Fees include campsite, dinner each evening, and snacks at the campfire each evening.
Jim and Sue Martis coordinate this camping trip each year, so for more information, read Sue's detailed letter here
, then contact her via email
. Campsites are limited, and many reservations have already come in, so don't delay. It's a wonderful gathering!

|Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia
Paul and Virginia have spent the last month in New England ministering to students, couples, and families. They've been in:
- Portland, Maine, where they spoke to a wonderful group of Rwandans at an all-day marriage seminar hosted by Jesus First Ministries
- Greenland, New Hampshire, to present a workshop at Willie Batson's "Family Builders" Relationship Day that was anchored by Dr. Gary Chapman
- Beverly, Massachusetts, to speak at North Shore Community Baptist Church on marriage and parenting
- Belmont, Massachusetts, to speak at Sunday services at the First Armenian Church
- Lexington, Massachusetts, to host a very exciting purity conference ("Worth It") for 200 teens and parents from all over New England
- Brunswick, Maine, to speak to Bowdoin College students on "The Top Ten Lies the Culture Tells Us About Sex"
- Jackson, New Hampshire, to host and speak at one of the most powerful H.I.M. Marriage Conferences in recent memory
All of this is made possible by your support and prayers. Read and be encouraged by these comments from "Worth It" attendees:
I could hear and feel God speaking through everyone all day. Thank you so much for this ministry. You are changing the world.
I loved how we saw real examples of people that are committed to purity, are living it, and seeing the blessings of those choices.
Just a humble and sincere 'thank you' to everyone who had a hand in the "Worth It" seminar last Saturday. Your servanthood will bear fruit and will change the lives of our youth. I know it made a very strong impression on some of our kids and gave them courage and conviction.
And comments from marriage conference attendees:
Thank you both so much for recommending that we attend the HIM weekend. We really went just to get away somewhere pretty for some R&R, but God is so faithful that He didn't let it stay that neutral for long! We both learned so much in every single session, things that have the potential to change our lives as Christians and as a couple. Of course, the fabulous food and location didn't hurt a bit! :)
I hope to hear more from the Friesens soon; I enjoyed their presentation immensely, with their humor, sound Biblical teaching, and loving sensitivity to the problems that their audience might be facing or have faced in the past.
We attended your marriage retreat in Jackson this weekend. This is the first time we've come home from a short get-away knowing "reality" is back around the corner, but have also carried home with us a wonderful, enlightening and extremely spiritual experience. We are excited to begin praying together, and to incorporate the wonderful things we've learned and experienced
Great reports continue to come in from Mbale, Uganda, where Julie Friesen has completed eleven weeks so far serving with Cure International. We are so thankful for all God is doing in her and through her. Paul and Virginia are very excitedly now counting the days until they join her there next month; they will be serving in Kampala, Uganda, speaking at several marriage events there, and then will travel to Mbale to be with Julie. Pray that God will use their words and lives to change many minds and hearts. Your support is making a difference in many lives!
