Couples who are in love with each other and looking forward to marriage inevitably overlook the likelihood that their future lives together will be filled with unforeseen stresses and strains. When they say "for better or worse," do they truly know what they are signing up for?
Most marriages are not destroyed because of bad cooking, less-than-thrilling sex, stretched financial situations, or poor communication. Most marriages are destroyed because in times of stress due to bad cooking, less-than-thrilling sex, finances, or communication, they do not have a strong foundation to fall back on.
is a fun and insightful two-day seminar for both engaged and pre-engaged couples. Paul and Virginia and several assisting couples will offer practical wisdom about marriage as it was meant to be-a gift from God-and how to make sure you are on track both to be and to marry a God-honoring spouse.
This is the final weekend to be offered until Fall, so spread the word! Register online

|Paul and Virginia just returned from a two-week west coast speaking tour that began in Sacramento, California and ended in Redwood City, California, with stops in between in Marin, San Diego, and Monterey. They spoke at several different churches, a private school, and to a professional athletes conference, and were very enthusiastically received at all venues. Virginia will no doubt give us the details in her next blog posting, but for now they are back home (shoveling snow!) and preparing to speak again this weekend at Grace Baptist Church in Andover, MA.
Meanwhile, H.I.M.'s missionary, Julie Friesen, has been serving in Uganda at Cure, International's hospital for children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. In the photo above, you see the whole Friesen family in their living room, gathered to send Julie off to Uganda. Now that she's there, she's been blogging about her experiences and sharing the heart (and the hard) lessons she's learning as God uses her to bring hope to kids and their parents. To those of you who have helped support her (whether financially or in prayer), THANK YOU. Please continue--her calling is real, but so is ours--to pray without ceasing.
Some of Julie's prayer requests are:
* Clear purpose and passion
* Friendships that encourage and rejuvenate
* Safety: emotionally, spiritually, physically
* Ability to know how to empower the Ugandans to break cycles of dysfunction
* Love and compassion with hope and passion
* Discernment on who to help materially
* Wisdom and discernment sorting new sights, thoughts, emotions
Please join us in lifting Julie daily before God. And may He graciously answer all your earnest requests to Him.
