Lemonade StandOn Saturday evening, May 3rd, Trinity Church in Bolton, Massachusetts, will be hosting Drs. Paul and Virginia Friesen for an encouraging and helpful parenting seminar, Raising Godly Sons and Daughters Who Will Be Drawn to Godly Mates.  Naturally, every parent desires that their children will marry well, but parents often are ill-equipped to prepare their children for this second-most-important decision in life.

Come and explore the effect your marriage and parenting of children at every age have on your children's marriage decisions.  Discuss how to help children develop convictions that will lead to Godly choices.  Learn how to use milestone birthdays to encourage the values of purity, affirmation, truth, grace, and life purpose during these years where critical lifelong relationship decisions are made.

The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with light appetizers and conclude around 8:30 pm with desserts.  Tickets are $10 per adult and can be purchased by calling Norman Nielsen (978-897-8707) or Carl Blatchley (508-485-1700).  No tickets will be sold at the door, so please plan accordingly.

Pool PartyJoin us on Saturday, May 31, at the annual H.I.M. Picnic and Pool Party!  Bring the whole family for a great time of swimming, games, food, and fellowship. The event runs from 11 am to 3 pm, with lunch being served at 12:30 pm.

This is a great time to hang out with your family and friends and meet new families that share a desire to raise healthy, God-honoring children and have vital marriages.  Everyone is free to play games on the lawn, swim, talk, and relax.  Join Paul and Virginia Friesen and the H.I.M. family.  Hear all the latest information about upcoming H.I.M. events.

Parents are asked to supervise their own children, and one-piece bathing suits are required.  There is no charge for this event, but you do need to RSVP by Thursday, May 29, with the number who will be attending.  Do this on our website or by calling 781-275-6473.  The event is being held in Weston, Massachusetts.  Directions will be provided in response to your RSVP.  There's no rain date, so think SUN!  If we do have to cancel, we'll send out an email by 8 am Saturday to all those who have RSVP'd.  Hope to see you there!

New  H.I.M. Website and Blog
'Raising a Trailblazer' coverWe are delighted to announce a brand-new, redesigned, beautiful Home Improvement Ministries website!  Many, many thanks to Carter and Tracey Welch of the Fig Tree Group and to Richard Hendricks, H.I.M. webmaster, for the design and implementation of the new site.  Please visit us there at ww.HIMweb.org. We'd love to hear what you think!

Also, if you haven't yet visited the Friesens' blog, announced last month, please check it out, too.  In the latest entry, Virginia writes about and shares photos from the recent Oasis Marriage Conference.  It was a wonderful weekend!
Paul and Virginia FriesenLECHE FLAN

        8 eggs
        1 tsp vanilla
        1 cup granulated sugar, divided
        1/8 tsp salt
        1 can sweetened condensed milk
whole milk (enough to fill the can)

Fill a cake pan half full of hot water; place in oven. Turn oven on to 350 degrees. Separate 8 eggs.  Put yolks in a large bowl and set aside for 10 minutes. Meanwhile put 1/2 cup sugar in the bottom of a metal loaf pan.  Place directly over burners on stove on medium high heat, shaking periodically until sugar is melted and caramelized (light brown in color) and coated evenly over the bottom.  Set aside.

Stir one can sweetened condensed milk into the yolks. Fill the empty can with whole milk until can is full and pour the can of milk into the yolks also.  Stir in 1/2 cup of sugar. Set aside for 15 minutes.  Then add vanilla and salt; mix. Strain mixture into the caramelized pan. Place loaf pan into water-filled pan in oven.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Flan is done when inserted toothpick comes out clean. Refrigerate. To serve, unmold onto a platter; scrape drippings over flan. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
Springtime! Just as we welcome each new bloom, the warmer air, and the fresh breezes as we throw open the windows of our homes after a long winter, so too we can bring springtime to our families.  Consider the "lift" of a quick hug given, a word of affirmation spoken, a burden shared, a smile offered, a prayer sent up. What a gift that God gives us constant opportunities to serve our families in even small ways!

And how grateful we are that you serve many families as you support the work of Home Improvement Ministries. Thanks to all of you for caring about what we do and sharing your encouraging words of affirmation with us! We are delighted to partner with you in strengthening families and marriages.
